New Halesowen and Rowley Regis Jobs Fair announced for September

Jobseekers have been urged by local MP James Morris to attend the event which last year attracted over 700 people.
The fair is being held at the Salvation Army in Cradley Heath on Thursday, September 26, and will bring people who are looking for a job together with employers.
Last year Jaguar Land Rover, the NHS, National Express and Smethwick-based engineering firm Hadley Group were joined by smaller local employers and the MP is confident there will be an even greater range of companies and jobs on offer.
The MP said: “We have had some good news in Halesowen and Rowley Regis, with 3,000 more local people in work than there were three years ago and unemployment falling, but things can still be very tough for people who are looking for a job.
“Last year’s jobs fair was so successful that I decided to split it into two events this year – an apprenticeship and skills fair in the spring, aimed at school-leavers and young people, and this jobs fair in September for people who are looking for full-time work.”
He added: “I have already had a lot of interest from employers with a wide range of vacancies available – in retail, manufacturing and in service industries – after the success of last year’s event and so this year’s jobs fair promises to be even better.”
The MP also organised an Apprenticeship and Skills Fair in Halesowen earlier this year, to help people to find the apprenticeships and training that they need for work.
Mathew Griffiths, community coordinator at Cradley Heath Salvation Army, is looking forward to the event.
He said: “Helping people into work, and helping to improve people’s employment prospects, has always been an important part of our work in the community.
“We are delighted to be hosting this event and hope that as many people as possible will come along on September 26 and find the job that they are looking for.”
The Halesowen and Rowley Regis Jobs Fair is being held at the Salvation Army, Meredith Street, between 11am and 3pm on Thursday, September 26.
