SUPPORTERS of the Great Black Country Run were out in force last weekend raising awareness of the giant charity event.

Sponsors McDonalds, Bromsgrove Road, allowed Howley Grange Scouts and Rotarians to use their car park to hold a windscreen wash on Saturday morning.

Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotarian Alan Bowler, who is organising the run, said: “We had a great time and managed to spread the word about the Great Black Country Run whilst washing people’s cars.

“We owe a big thank you to the Howley Grange Scouts and McDonalds for their support of the run.”

The GBCR is being held on Saturday, September 22 around the streets of Halesowen and is set to be the first Halesowen Fun Run last year.

As well as a 5 kilometre fun run there will be a 10km road race which will attract more serious runners to the event.

Runners can raise money for their own chosen charities or the GBCR official charities which include Mary Stevens Hospice and the Sunfield Children’s Centre in Clent.
