Halesowen choir tuning up for new season and new members
3:16pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
NEW singers are being called up to swell the ranks of a Halesowen community choir.
Rehearsals for Lutley Community Voices start up tonight (Thursday) after the summer break, with members looking forward to their Christmas performances.
The choir sings a variety of styles - pop, musicals and folk - and is looking to add to its repertoire new numbers including arrangements of Bridge Over Troubled Water and You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Conductor Margaret Jones said: “The choir has been a success socially as well as musically for its members – and there have been recent reports that highlight how good singing is for your health.”
Concerts in the past year included a performance at Birmingham Town Hall in May, as part of a community project called Sing for all - Community Spirit.
The choir rehearses on Thursdays at Lutley Primary School, Brookwillow Road, from 8pm until 9.15pm and no previous experience of singing or reading music is needed.
Mrs Jones said anyone interested was welcome or they can email firstname.lastname@example.org. The choir can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
She is also looking for new members for Voices of Hope, a choir she conducts, which has been formed by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals for cancer patients, survivors and carers.
