A COMPANY with a mission to support vulnerable people has been awarded £5,000 from Dudley Counil's community enterprise fund.
The cash went to Universal Support CIC who work with groups including people with learning difficulties and the unemployed to provide opportunities for pottery painting which is then sold to raise further funds to sustain the project.
Universal Support CIC was chosen for its innovative quality and the clear community benefit it provides.
Nine other social enterprises took who competed for the cash will now be offered a package of support that includes one-to-one business mentoring, and advice to develop their projects.
Cllr Judy Foster, Dudley cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The awarding of this fund is excellent news for the borough. We’re working hard to make sure that ventures such as this one enhance our local community, and this money will go a long way to doing that.
“Growing the borough’s social enterprise economy is hugely important to how we develop as a council based around the community, giving people greater choice, control and involvement.”
