Nurture suite opened at Halesowen school

A HOME from home has been set up at a Halesowen school to create a nurture suite to develop the emotional health and well-being of pupils.
The Green Room at Colley Lane Primary School is the first in the Dudley borough and will be used for small groups of children from years one and two.
Inclusion manager Sarah Kennedy said they will use it for activities such as arts and crafts, baking, music and ICT.
She said: “Teaching in the room will follow the basic principles of nurture, taken from the Nurture Group Network training, allowing the children to explore their world in a safe and secure environment whilst providing opportunities to learn at the developmental level of the child.
“All staff at Colley Lane believe the emotional health and well-being of our children should be a high priority and rooms such as this enable us to teach our children to develop self confidence, self esteem and be brave enough to take those risks with their learning and ultimately achieve their goals.”
