Charity event to tee off in memory Halesowen man
3:28pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A CHARITY golf day and presentation night is being held on Saturday (September 14) in memory of a Halesowen man who died suddenly at the age of 35 from an undetected heart condition.
The tragic death of Neil Drew in 2006 from cardiomyopathy was the second blow for his family following his 67-year-old father’s death from cancer two years earlier.
Proceeds from the golf day, which is being organised by his brothers Chris, aged 46, and Philip, aged 45, will be split equally between CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young - and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Chris, of Narrow Lane, said the day would have added poignancy because it would have been his parents 50th wedding anniversary.
With 29 golfers teeing off at Bridgnorth Golf Club followed by a presentation at Halesowen’s Shenstone Club featuring local singer Alan Cullen, it is hoped top raise £2,000.
