Golf day raised cash in memory of Halesowen man

GOLFERS teed off to raise about £2,000 in memory of a Halesowen man who died suddenly from an undetected heart condition.
Neil Drew was just 35 when he died from cardiomyopathy in 2006 and brother Chris and Philip organised a golf day at Bridgnorth Golf Club followed by a presentation and social at Halesowen’s Shenstone Club.
The competition, won jointly by David Coley, from Oldbury, and Tony Power, from Halesowen, attracted 29 golfers.
Chris Drew, of Narrow Lane, said the event raised £1,600 with gift aid taking the final figure to around £2,000, which will be split between CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young - and Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of their father who died from cancer.
