BUDDING borough moviemakers are being challenged to remake their favourite film in just 15 seconds for entry in a national cinema competition.
Showcase Cinemas in Dudley is inviting film fans to take part in Showcase’s nationwide REMAKE competition which offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get work viewed by an all-star judging panel.
The competition, which aims to discover the next generation of filmmakers through social media, is challenging aspiring Spielbergs to shoot a film or classic scene remake before submitting their final cut using the #showcaseremake hashtag.
Contestants are limited to submitting their entries as a six second cut on Vine, or as a 15 second cut on Instagram.
After shortlisting, the final ten entries will be judged by a panel comprising top names in the film industry including Oscar-winning producers Simon Chinn and Gareth Ellis-Unwin.
The winner will receive a 2014 annual pass at Showcase Cinemas.
Jon Dixon, marketing director at Showcase Cinemas, said: “This is an unmissable opportunity for budding filmakers to get their work seen by some of the most influential people in British cinema.
“This competition is designed to be a fun, easy opportunity for people to show us what they can do, without the need for costly equipment. Anyone can shoot and edit on their smartphone with the Vine or Instagram apps.”
The deadline for entries is Friday November 1.
