A TRIMMED down call centre worker has been crowned Woman of the Year by her Quinton slimming club after shedding five stone.
Jodie Turberfield slimmed down from a size 20 to a shapely size 12, reaching her 10st 11lb goal weight in 15 months.
After failing to loose weight on faddy diets and tipping the scales at almost 16 stone, the 22-year-old from Romsley, joined Slimming World at Four Dwellings High School, Quinton, She had piled on the pounds after starting work with fast food lunches, nights out with friends or nights in front of the TV with takeaways.
Miss Turberfield said: “I knew my waist line was steadily growing as I was uncomfortable in my clothes, but the moment that I realised I had to do something about my weight was having to ask for a size 20 in the changing room of a clothes shop.”
But with support from her family and the slimming club, she swapped fast food for healthy meals - although she still enjoys crisps.
She said: “I used to do a few exercise classes before but I really struggled to keep up because I was so out of breath. A few short weeks after joining Slimming World I felt more confident and decided to join the local gym.
“I really enjoy it now and I can do so much more as I don’t get so tired. At Christmas I trekked through the Brecon Beacons in Wales in just three hours. I was over the moon with my time - I now want to do a skydive.”
Slimming Word consultant Elaine Harding added: “I’m so proud of Jodie. Not only does she look stunning, she’s improved her health and is bursting with energy. She’s a huge inspiration to everyone in our group and I hope she inspires other young women in the area to change their lives in the same way.”
