A SENIOR Sandwell councillor and officers have met with fire staff to inspect new carbon monoxide monitors which will be used in the borough to help prevent fires and posioning.
The new equipment will allow fire staff to monitor the CO levels in a property and give homeowners appropriate advice should a problem be found.
The delegation was led by Councillor Stephen Jones, who is chairman of the borough's adult social care scrutiny board.
Cllr Jones said: "There is a big problem with vulnerable homeowners using gas appliances without them being regularly tested.”
The equipment was bought following a bid by the council to the Department of Health for Warm Homes Healthy People Funding.
