New Sandwell Council children's director urged to be "transparent"

SANDWELL Council's new children's services director has been urged to be "more transparent" during his tenure in office.
Matthew Sampson has been lured from Sheffield Council to take the reigns of the department rated "inadequate" by Ofsted inspectors.
Langley Independent Socialist Councillor Mick Davies has campaigned for better standards in the Sandwell’s children’s department for several years.
He said: “Obviously Mr Sampson is up for the challenge and I hope for the sake of the children and young people that it's fourth time lucky for the council making this appointment.
“I hope for a rather more transparent culture within the service than has been in the past.
Cllr Davies, who runs two children's centres in Walsall, added: “But hope springs eternal and I wish him well and after his settling in period no doubt I will have a few questions to ask of him.”
