A PILOT escaped without serious injury after a light aircraft ended-up upside down in a field near Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport at Bobbington, near Stourbridge.

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were called to the airfield shortly after 11.50am today (Saturday) after the single-seater light aircraft landed upside down in a field close to the airport runway.

Fire crews also attended the scene and righted the aircraft - and the pilot, a man in his 60s, got out.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "He was assessed at the scene and found to have just minor injuries. He was discharged at the scene.”
