AN intrepid team from an Oldbury car dealership scaled the slopes of Snowdon in a sponsored climb to raise more than £500 for Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Charity.

Specialist paint technician Dave Thomas at Sytner BMW suggested the company take on a sponsored challenge to support the children’s department after his son’s life was saved following a severe asthma attack.

Mr Thomas along with manager Brendan Elston and a team of seven from the company climbed the mountain last month and the pair visited City Hospital to present the cheque.

“Although Archie’s asthma attack was in 2008, it still feels like yesterday,” said Mr Thomas, adding:

“Coming here takes me back to that terrifying time, but I felt I had to show my gratitude for all the work D19 staff did to save my boy. I’ve been wanting to do something for a while and it was brilliant to have everyone I work with supporting that too.”

The money raised will be used to buy extras for the children’s ward such as calming sensory equipment.
