Quinton groups gain from Tesco cash

A TESCO superstore has offered a ‘helping hand’ to the Quinton and Ridgacre community with donations totalling £1,000 and a little help from its customers.
Quinton Foodbank, Christ Church Pre-School, Bonikidz and Quinbourne Community Centre were nominated to each receive a £250 donation following the store’s recent Helping Hand competition, launched last month.
Store manager James Edwards and his colleagues selected the organisations from suggestions made by customers at the Ridgacre Road store.
He said: “We were overwhelmed with the response to our Helping Hand competition. It was great to see so many of our customers and the local community getting involved and making their nominations.
“After reading all of the entries, my team and I wanted to split the £1,000 across four local organisations as they carry out such different, but invaluable, work in the Quinton and Ridgacre area.”
The funds are going towards materials to refurbish rooms and corridors in the community centre, volunteer training at the foodbank, the upkeep of the playground at Christ Church Pre-School and renewing play equipment at Boni Kidz Out of School club.
