A TEENAGE ambassador from a Halesowen school was one of a nationwide team chosen to give pupils a voice on the education system and present their findings to MPs and government advisors in Westminster.
Windsor High school sixth former Chadsley Adkins was selected to help draw up the My Education report featuring the opinions of 8,000 young people across the country, He and six other youth ambassadors briefed shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt on the report and told him they wanted - and should have - a say in the design of the education system.
Seventeen-year-old Chadsley said: "He was the first to take a copy of the report and was interested to hear what we had to say ."
The group also spoke with education secretary Michael Gove's chief policy advisor Tom Shinner at the Department for Education and Laura Trott, policy advisor for number 10 in Downing Street.
The visit ended with a round table debate in the Houses of Parliament with MPs, including Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris, who were given a run down of the report prior to a discussion session.
Chadsley said: " I think it’s incredible that I have managed to get myself into a process this big and it was an honour to represent the voices of all the young people across our country.
"I think it’s important to point out that a group of teenagers had a serious discussion with education specialists about the future of our education system and they sat there and listened to us."
