An 18-year-old man suffered serious head injuries when he was struck by a car outside McDonald's in Cradley this afternoon.
The teenager was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital accompanied by the air ambulance doctor and a critical care practitioner who treated him in the land ambulance.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the air ambulance was called, but not used, although its expert medical staff anesthetised the injured man and maintained his airway.
The accident happened at the junction of Park Lane and Park Road shortly after midday and involved a Smart car.
