CHRISTMAS treats are being dished up to entice more visitors to a drop-in centre for the elderly in Halesowen.
The centre, opposite the bus station in Queensway, offers breakfasts and snacks for the over 55s to tuck into while enjoying a social chat.
Christmas specials are on the menu including breakfasts for £2, hot drink, mince pie and cream for 70p, plus bacon sandwiches and other snacks.
The festive season will also be celebrated with a Christmas carol sing-along on Saturday December 14 with admission by ticket only.
Belle Vale councillor Jill Nicholls said it was hoped a boost in numbers would enable the re-opening of the upstairs kitchen and seating area.
She said this would please the family of centre founder Elsie Maybury, who died a year ago, aged 78. A plaque is being erected there in her memory next week, marking the first anniversary of her death.
Cllr Nicholls, a strong supporter of the centre, added: “The volunteers provide a warm and friendly welcome to all.”
More helpers are also needed to run the centre, which opens Monday to Friday from 10am until 3pm. It will also be open on Christmas Eve this year.
