THE controversial bedroom tax imposed by the Government to free up desperately-needed family homes appears to be working in Halesowen.
Dudley Council has revealed that more properties with two or more bedrooms are coming on stream and is urging people interested in renting to contact its housing services.
Home available in Halesowen, and other borough towns, include houses, flats and maisonettes, from £69 per week.
Councillor Steve Waltho, cabinet member for housing and community safety, said: “Renting a property directly from Dudley Council provides potential residents with an ideal, cost saving opportunity, compared to privately rented accommodation – which means these properties are ideal for anyone who is struggling to keep up private rental payments.
“Tenants also have the assurance of knowing that repairs, maintenance and service charges are included in the rental.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in renting a two or three bedroom property give us a call first.”
Anyone interested in the scheme should call 01384 814183 or email nowaithomes@dudley.gov.uk
