HALF a heart tot Mason Williams, from Rowley Regis, has rallied after suffering a serious virus and chest infection which put him in hospital for a week.
The three-year-old, who was born with a rare genetic condition, had been enjoying the wonderland of festive lights set up in his garden to make his Christmas sparkle, when he became ill.
But the brave boy, who has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, pulled through after treatment at Sandwell Hospital.
His stay was brightened by a visit from Sandwell teenagers and staff from Stuart Bathurst Catholic School, Wednesbury, who donated chocolate selection boxes, toys and books plus £825 cash for the hospital.
Mum Melodie said: “He tends to be poorly at this time of the year, but he enjoyed their visit and the kids enjoyed it as well. They seemed to get quite a lot out of it, which is good.”
Mason’s plight, and his mum’s dream of lighting up the garden of their Mountford Close home for the festive season, pulled the heartstrings of News readers and family friends who donated lighting festoons and other outdoor decorations.
