A LEARNER driver, from Oldbury, crashed a car he had bought just days earlier in a police chase.
Bobby Bastable, aged 29, of Titford Road, who was already on licence from a prison sentence for an unrelated matter at the time, was jailed for nine months.
He was also banned from driving for two year after admitting dangerous driving.
Mark Rees, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court that Bastable accelerated away from police at more than twice the 30mph limit.
But he then lost control of the Citroen which cost "a few hundred pounds" and skidded into the central reservation, careered across a traffic island before crashing into a lamppost.
