Festive fun first at Rowley Regis school
Updated 2:24pm Friday 20th December 2013 in News
SPECIAL needs pupils enjoyed their first Christmas fair with a visit from Santa and the chance to buy family gifts at their Rowley Regis school.
The newly formed parent teachers association at Westminster School, organised the event, which raised £600 towards a keyboard.
Acting assistant headteacher Ben Taylor said the PTA had been set up following the school’s growth from 60 pupils to 130 after moving to the Rowley Learning Campus two years ago and opening to seven to 11-year-olds as well secondary aged children.
The fair was its first fundraiser and Mr Taylor said: “It was overwhelming. We had about 70 per cent of the parents in which was the most ever at any one time.“
The keyboard will be used for music lessons and in the music club, accompanying pupils who perform at community events, such as at St Giles Church and at the Blackheath Christmas lights switch on.
