A ROWLEY Regis residential home for the elderly has applied to build an extension.
The George Leonard Rest Home is in negotiations to buy number 241 Oldbury Road and if successful will knock down to make room for its expansion.
The extension will include 18 new en-suite bedrooms, lounge facilities to accommodate increased resident numbers, new lifts, shower rooms, and a management offices.
In the design statement sent to Sandwell Council Michael Edwards Architects said: "The extension also allows for improvements to the entrance, making it more visually appealing and to provide a more centralised entrance to ease residents movements around the site.
"The proposed elevation to Oldbury Road is designed to replicate the scale, proportion and scale of the existing rest home maintaining the same scale as the street scene."
He added: "The proposal also includes improved site parking, amenity space and access into and around the rest home."
The George Leonard Rest Home is privately owned and currently caters for 23 residents and specialises in dementia care.
