A PUBLISHED author returned to Leasowes School 15 years after leaving to give pupils an insight into writing.

Keren Hughes shared her love for writing and English with pupils on Tuesday and held a book signing.

She said: "I was a student at Leasowes High School from 1994 to 1999 and wanted to go back as I always loved English and always felt it was the one subject I excelled in.

"The signing on Leasowes High School was my first and that was due to the fact that I was a student there.

"It went very well and lots of students walked away happy to have my autograph."

She added: "It was one of the best days of my life going back to Leasowes as it was something I always wanted to do.

"I was so nervous when I got back to the school and it was great to see headteacher Mr Neil Shaw because he was the English teacher who inspired me to be a writer."

"The children were fantastic as they took part of their lunchtime off to see me and hopefully I have inspired some writers of the future."

Miss Hughes penned murder mystery Stolen in 2012 and was snapped up by Limitless Publishing.
