UNWANTED giant Christmas decorations have been saved from the tip and donated to a nursery and a school by Sainsbury’s Blackheath store.
The festive haul, including larger than life robins, snowmen and Christmas trees will boost this year’s yuletide celebrations at Blackheath Primary School and Rowley Owls Nursery.
Store manager Denver Martin rescued the decorations after they were taken down from the shopping aisles to find a new home for them.
The school was delighted and nursery manager Emma Jewkes, who was “amazed”, said they would be put to good use, Mr Denver said: “It’s great to know that the decorations that hung in the store throughout December have found good homes in the community and it helped us to ensure Sainsbury’s maintains its commitment to No Waste to Landfill.”
