KIND-HEARTED staff and customers at a Halesowen roofing company have raised £28,000 for charity.

Chandlers Roofing Supplies passed the half way mark of the Chandlers £50k Challenge charity appeal for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The challenge was launched last year in honour of employee Rob Sadler, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer, who celebrated 30 years at the company when those with the illness are not expected to live past their 30s.

Chandlers’ staff, customers and the community have supported the campaign and taken part in fundraising events including sponsored runs, football matches and charity golf days to barn dances, silent auctions and cricket matches.

Rob Sadler said: “The support from the local community has been fantastic and we are delighted to have reached £28,000.

"However, it is not too late to get involved.

He added: "So if a local company, school or college would like to put on their own fundraising event for the appeal, or they are able to donate a prize to a silent auction, we would love to hear from them.”

Dave Horton, branch manager at Chandlers Halesowen, added: “A big thank you to everyone who has made a contribution to any of the fundraising activities that have taken place so far.

"Although we are focusing on raising money with our colleague Rob in mind, Cystic Fibrosis is a condition that affects the lives of families across the country, so any money raised goes to a great cause."
