Colley Gate woman who drunkenly driving the wrong way on M5 told to expect punishment

A 26-year-old Colley Gate woman who drove the wrong way along the M5 when she was more than twice over the alcohol limit has been warned she could be severely punished.
Katy Homer was behind the wheel of her Vauxhall Astra as she travelled north along the southbound carriageway of the motorway near Oldbury.
A HGC lorry driver going the other way tried to warn her by sounding his horn and flashing his lights and she then moved onto the hard shoulder before leaving the motorway where she was arrested by police.
Homer of Clent View Road, Colley Gate then gave the officers an alcohol reading of 79 microgrammes when the legal limit is 35.
She admitted driving dangerously and with excess alcohol and she was remanded on bail until March 28th for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Judge John Warner made an interim disqualification order and told Homer, "The fact I am asking for a report does not tie the hands of the Judge that will sentence you."
Mr Malcolm Fowler defending told Wolverhampton Crown Court it was accepted it was "grave" offending and stressed Horton was a woman of previous good character.
He said there was a medical background to the case that would assist the court. Horton, he concluded, had quite serious depression and she was on medication.
The Judge told Homer: "I am sure you appreciate driving the wrong way along a motorwayu when you are over twice the limit is a very serious matter."
