YOBS in Halesowen and Rowley Regis are targetting pedestrians by pelting them with eggs.

A Rowley Regis mother suffered severe bruising after a laughing thug threw an egg full force into her eye from a passing car.

Jackie Crump, aged 54, was walking on her own on Short Street, Rowley Regis, at 7.30pm last Friday when the incident happened.

She said: "The whizzed down the road blaring music and then the passenger threw something at me with his full force - I thought it was a brick at first.

"I was in shock because of the pain around my eye but was also covered in yoke so I knew it was an egg."

She added: "It was really scary because I was on my own and it was dark and it certainly has made me more wary to go out on my own now."

Police are investigating the spate of egg attacks and are appealing for information from the public.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called after a woman was hit in the face with an egg as she walked along Short Street, Rowley Regis on Friday, February 21.

"The woman, aged 54, suffered an eye injury during the incident."

She added: "A man leaned out the window of a passing car and threw the egg at around 7.40pm.

"Police are investigating the matter as an assault and urge anyone with information to call Sandwell Police by dialling 101."

After news spread of the attack on Jackie more people came forward to say they had also been pelted with eggs.

She said: "A man from Wetherspoons was pelted at Tesco Express and someone else got targeted near Mucklow Hill as well.

"Everyone has been so lovely but it is worrying that this is happening a lot in Halesowen and Rowley Regis and I wanted to tell readers to be careful."
