A HALESOWEN drug dealer caught with £8,400 worth of heroin and crack cocaine after being stopped by police officers in Lye has been put behind bars.

Anton Nash was jailed for four years eight months after pleading guilty to possessing the class A drugs with intent to supply.

Judge Martin Walsh at Wolverhampton Crown Court told the 27-year-old: "Clearly you are involved in street dealing. You were actively involved in the street supply of Class A drugs."

It was an aggravating feature of the case, he added, that Nash had been given jail sentences in the past for possessing the controlled drugs with intent to supply.

Howard Searle, prosecuting, said police officers stopped Nash in Cross Walks, Lye, and when he was taken to the police station he was found to have 15 wraps of cocaine and four of heroin stashed in his boxer shorts.

Then when his home in Century Way, Halesowen, was searched the officers found more drugs together with dealing paraphernalia and £5,379 in cash.

The judge ruled only a substantial prison term was appropriate bearing in mind Nash's criminal record.

Mr Searle said Nash would have to return to the court in the future to face a Proceeds of Crime hearing.
