Sandra Troth, SVI development officer, said: "The coffee morning will be an informal opportunity for you to find out more about SVI and the activities we organise for the visually impaired community, as well as learning about the Cradley Heath and Old Hill ward Community First funded Sandwell Talking News launch."

And visitors will be able to try out brand new 'boombox' players, as well as collecting free taster Sandwell Talking News CD.

Sandwell Talking News in partnership with SVI have re-launched the postal delivery service of the long established Sandwell Talking Newspaper. This service was stopped a couple of years ago when the organisation who used to support us to duplicate and mail out the audio newspaper cut its funding and stopped all audio transcriptions.

SVI and the Sandwell Talking News provide a weekly addition of the audio newspaper via the SVI website www.sandwellvisuallyimpaired.org.uk not all listeners do not have a computer and have not been able to access the service.

Mrs Troth added: "Mrs Troth added: "We are pleased to say that the Community First Cradley Heath and Old Hill panel recognised the need for this very important home delivery provision to be re-established for the visually impaired community.

"They kindly awarded the Sandwell Talking News with a grant to enable us to purchase up-to-date and necessary equipment to duplicate and dispatch an initial fortnightly edition to visually impaired residents of the Cradley Heath and Old Hill ward.""
