THE Library of Birmingham is holding a lunchtime talk about Halesowen historic figure Thomas Attwood next week.

Stephen Roberts from Newman University will be giving the talk between 1pm and 2pm on Tuesday, March 11, at the Heritage Learning Space, level 4 at the new Library of Birmingham, Centenary Square.

Thomas Attwood (1783-1856) was born in Halesowen, attended what is now Earls High School and became a leading campaigner for electoral rights and was one of Birmingham's first MPs.

A library spokesman said: "Find out more about his contribution to the reforms of the nineteenth century and how he deserves to be a well-remembered figure not just in Birmingham but in the country as a whole."
