YOUNGSTERS missed out on helping with improvements at Halesowen’s Huntingtree Park when Ofsted inspectors called to inspect their school.
Twenty five year four children from Huntingtree Primary School had been due to help plant 430 low growing flowering shrubs around the play area.
Instead, the task was left in the hands of the friends of the park committee and six workers from Dudley Council’s Green Care.
A friends’ spokesman said: “It was a shame and it was too late to ask children from another school.”
But thanks to the efforts of the council workers and committee the 24 varieties including lavenders, hebes, and miniature forsythias were dug in to make a colourful display.
The spokesman added: “We wanted low-growing plants to give colour without hiding the play area.”
