A DUDLEY tourist attraction has scooped a share of a million pound cash pot to support midlands museums.

The Black Country Living Museum is in line for £263,600 from the Arts Council’s Renaissance Strategic Support Programme which is dishing out a total of £1,455,114 to ten Midlands museums.

The programme provides financial support for sites to upgrade facilities to attract more visitors and create new jobs.

Peter Knott, area director for Arts Council England, said: “Investing in museums is important if we are to make the most of our country’s heritage and the rich cultural offer it presents.

“There is a wide range of projects planned which will see young people access new training opportunities; untold stories bought to life in new and insightful exhibitions; and the potential for growth in the regional tourist economy.”

The Black Country museum, on Tipton Road, aims to spend the cash on volunteering opportunities and apprenticeships.
