MUMS spending their first Mother's Day in hospital with poorly babies will be treated to a special delivery from kind-hearted Dudley volunteers.
Volunteers from the Dudley Bliss Group will visit the neonatal unit at Russell’s Hall Hospital tomorrow (Sunday) armed with gift bags containing chocolate and toiletries, donated by local businesses.
Members of the family support group, which holds monthly meetings for families who have had babies on any neonatal unit and live in or around Dudley borough, will also give mums a card and a poem written by Bliss volunteer, Joanne Weston.
She said: "It can be hard to feel like you are a new mother when your baby is on a neonatal unit, especially when they are very poorly in an incubator and you don’t get to cuddle them very much. "The nursing staff are the babies’ main carers and the mums get involved when they can like with changing nappies and feeding, when the babies are a little better.
"It’s nice to be reminded that you are a mum and to be made to feel special because of that."
