CRADLEY Heath's Tab Operatic Society is getting set to stage Barry Manilow's glitzy musical Copacabana in Brierley Hill next week.

Featuring sing-a-long Manilow hits Lola and Copacabana and a host of others - the show will run nightly at Brierley Hill Civic Hall from Tuesday April 8 to Saturday April 11 from 7.15pm; there's also a matinee on Saturday April 11 starting at 2pm.

Society newcomer Mitchell Bastable stars as struggling songwriter Stephen who dreams up alter ego Tony, Forte an aspiring songwriter/bartender at the famousCopacabana nightclub, while seasoned Black Country stage star Fleur Petford is set to appear as showgirl Lola Lamar who gets her big break when she auditions for a spot at the Copa in 1947.

But it's not all plain sailing as after catching the eye of villainous gangster Rico Castelli (played by newcomer John Nicholas) Lola is kidnapped and taken to Rico's club - the Tropicana in Havana, Cuba.

Society regular Louise Griffin is also set to appear as Gladys Murphy, the girlfriend of the Copa's hard-headed manager Sam Silver (played by Grant Chapman), and Sarah Field stars as Cuban singer and Rico's moll - Conchita Alvarez.
