HALESOWEN bookworms will get the chance to meet an award-winning author as part of Big Book Fortnight.

The annual celebrations will take place in libraries across the Black Country from May 10 to 24.

Wolverhampton-born Sathnam Sanghera will give a talk at Halesowen Library on Friday May 16 from 7.15pm to 8.30pm His first book, The Boy with the Topknot: A Memoir of Love, Secrets and Lies in Wolverhampton, was shortlisted for 2008 Costa Biography Award.

He will also sign copies of his first novel, Marriage Material, which tells the story of three generations of a family in a Wolverhampton corner shop.

Andrea Pope-Smith, director of adult, community and housing services, said: “Together as Black Country authorities we have been celebrating Big Book Fortnight for 10 years.

"This is a great way to celebrate our local talent and give readers the chance to meet with the authors of books they love to read."
