AN annual community campaign hopes to make a clean sweep in Sandwell by celebrating the borough's 40th year.
To mark the creation of the borough, the Big Spring Clean is targeting more than 40 miles of litter picking on pavements, planting 40 trees, working with 40 schools and painting 40 metres of fencing and railings across the borough.
The multi-award winning campaign takes place across the borough’s six towns and attracts thousands of people to take part in litter picking and improvement events.
Volunteers can decide what they would like to do on their Big Spring Clean event including litter picking, graffiti removal, planting, painting and supporting local wildlife.
The campaign is in iuts eighth year and is run conjunction with Sandwell's waste partner Serco and the Litter Watch charity.
