THE dead body discovered in a burning car in Cradley Heath on Saturday night has yet to be identified.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Detectives investigating the death of a man in a burnt out car in Forge Lane, Cradley Heath on Saturday night have yet to establish a definitive cause of death.

"However, at this stage they do not think it is suspicious and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

He added: "The man has not yet been formally identified.

Police officers were alerted to the gruesome find near Cradley Heath railway station at 9.20pm on Saturday following a call from the fire service.

The fire was so fierce the identity of the body is yet to be established.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from Force CID, is leading the investigation.

He said: "This was an intense fire which all but destroyed the Peugeot 306.

"Once fire-fighters extinguished the flames they discovered a body inside the car.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
