KIND-hearted choir members have come to the aid of a Halesowen charity shop after reading in the News it had been broken into six times in two years.

Voices in Harmony decided to give the £1,160 proceeds of a planned fundraising concert at the town’s Cornbow Hall to the Cancer Research UK shop rather than send it directly to CRUK’s central fund.

Shop manager Jean Shaw said: “Although the money will end up in exactly the same place, each shop has to justify its existence and the money Voices in Harmony Choir has donated to Cancer Research UK via our shop will help keep a presence here in the High Street and so help us to continue to raise funds for researchers in their quest for cancer cures and treatments.”

The choir’s next concert is a Summer Proms at Dudley Town Hall on Saturday June 21 where they will be joined by the Marston Singers, the Shirley Brass Band and special guest Jonathan Veira. The concert will be compered by BBC Midlands Today presenter Michael Collie.
