A CREATIVE Halesowen student is celebrating after winning a nationwide competition to identify new talent.

Abigail Bills, aged 16, who is studying at King Edward VI Stourbridge, entered a picture which will now be displayed on billboards up and down the country.

The Who Are You? competition was organised by the Arts University of Bournemouth, which asked for creative 14-19 year olds to create a piece of work that reflects who they are in the world today.

Abigail said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out I’d made the shortlist of potential winners. However to have produced one of the winning entries is something I’m really proud of.

"I enjoyed developing this piece as it pushed my own limitations and winning gave me an insight on the possibilities after college."

She added: "This is a stepping stone in pursuing art in my further education and my dream of being in the creative industries."

World renowned photographer John Rankin, chief design officer at Design Council Mat Hunter and humanitarian photographer Giles Duley judged the winners.

Simon Pride, head of marketing at the AUB, said:“The Who Are You? competition has attracted young creative talent from not only the UK, but from across the world.

"Abigail’s work is a great example of the creativity which is out there and which we are trying to encourage even more of here at AUB.

“This year has been another record breaking year for us in terms of entries, with over 600 youngsters taking part."
