CHARITIES and voluntary groups are being encouraged to take one of the few remaining stalls at Halesowen’s Victorian Fair next month.

The event, one of the biggest in the town’s calendar, will take place in Saturday July 19 and is expected to attract thousands of people.

Around £10,000 was raised for charities at last year’s Victorian Fair which features market stalls, street performers and a programme of entertainment.

Tony Billingham, from Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club which organises the day, said it was a great opportunity for charities to raise money for themselves.

He said: “In these austere times it enables charities to raise money as well as raising their profile in the town.”

Twenty two stalls have been sold already at £25 each, but at least another eight are still up for grabs.

The stall income goes towards the cost of staging the day.
