Halesowen ballet teacher dances with star

First published in News

TODDLERS’ ballet teacher Emma Skett, from Halesowen, was in a spin when dance icon Wayne Sleep put her through her paces at a national conference.

At only 5ft 2in, Sleep is famous for being the shortest male dancer ever accepted into the Royal Ballet School and is credited with popularising the dance form to the masses through TV.

He was guest speaker at Babyballet’s annual conference in Halifax, attended by Mrs Skett, who teaches pre-school children at classes in Halesowen and Stourbridge.

She said: “He spoke from the heart and inspired us all, but it was dancing with him that really made my day.

“He is so theatrical and such great fun. I had the best time ever.”
