A SPECIALIST Halesowen care home is opening its doors to challenge negative perceptions of their sector.
Woodview House is offering tours, chats with residents and a slice of cake during its open day next Friday, June 20 from 10am until 5pm.
The event is part of the second annual National Care Home Open Day run for visitors to discover what life is like in a care home.
The Waugh Drive home, owned by Shaw healthcare, provides nursing and respite care and rehabilitation for older people, as well as specialist dementia care. Shaw healthcare take a person-centred approach to care, with each care package tailored around the individual’s needs.
Manager Karen Cooper said, “Many people still have misconceptions about care homes, and opening our doors to the local community is a great way to change people’s minds.”
