HISTORY enthusiasts are invited to go along to the borough’s new archives centre for a new Saturday morning get together.

The Friends of Dudley archives and local history service group, which holds monthly talks at the archives, is kicking off a Saturday coffee morning meet up from tomorrow (Saturday June 21).

The coffee mornings will take place at the Tipton Road archives centre from 10am to 2pm on the third Saturday of each month.

Anyone with an interest in local or family history or genealogy is welcome to attend and find out more about the Friends group which works to support the archives service as well as holding a programme of history talks, regular get-togethers, coach visits and days out to places of interest.

Councillor Stuart Turner, Dudley’s cabinet member for archives, said: “I would urge anyone with an interest in local history to come along to one of the new Saturday morning events and find out more about the work of the Friends of archives group. They will be warmly welcomed and can take a look at our fantastic new archives centre and all of the facilities that it has on offer.”
