PUPILS at an Oldbury primary school have been given advice about using public transport to get to secondary school.
Rounds Green Primary School took the Letzgo Next Steps sessions and got tips on using the bus, train, tram, walking or cycling to get to secondary schools in the area.
Councillor Judith Rowley, Centro’s lead member for fair, accessible and sustainable transport, said: “Moving to secondary school is a big step for a lot of children and it may be the first time they’ve needed to use public transport without a parent.
“These sessions are designed to give students the knowledge and confidence to be comfortable making that transition and allow them to focus their efforts on settling in at their new school.”
Centro has been running workshops for eight years and more than 3,500 students were visited last year before beginning secondary school.
The workshops will be provided by Centro’s education team which works closely with the region’s schools to provide travel information and support to teachers.
