A BBC Young Musician of the Year strings finalist is tuning up to wow concert goers in a performance with the Halesowen Orchestra.

Roberto Ruisi is the soloist for the concert featuring Brahms Violin Concerto in D at the Cornbow Hall, on Saturday July 12.

Also on the programme is the Brahms Academic Festival Overture and Dvorak’s the Noon Witch.

Orchestra chairman Julie Billingham said: “We are thrilled that Roberto will be our soloist for the evening. He is a terrific violinist with a great future ahead of him.”

Seventeen-year-old Roberto, who competed in the prestigious BBC competition earlier this year, has been leader of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for three consecutive years, having become the youngest ever leader in 2010.

He also featuires in many ensembles throughout the UK.
