THE number of borough residents signing up to receive their council tax bills online has surged by nearly 20 percent in the last 12 months.

More than 2,600 residents have signed up to Dudley Council's e-billing system and council bosses want more people to follow suit.

Councillor Stuart Turner, cabinet member for finance, said: “Receiving gas and electricity bills via email is something hundreds of thousands of people do and we want Dudley residents to do the same with their council tax bills."

E-billing allows people to view their bills when and where they like, helps cut down on postage costs and is good for the environment.
