POLICE have been given more time to question the man and woman that officers are questioning concerning the murder of Halesowen grandmother Cynthia Beamond.

The 32-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Birmingham were arrested on Sunday morning after disappearance of the 80-year-old.

Police believe one of the pair were known to Mrs Beamond, whose body was found hidden in her Juliet Road home on Sunday.

Detectives now have until tomorrow (Wednesday) morning to quiz the pair about the murder.

Detective Superintendent Mark Payne added: “Cynthia was a very independent lady, who lived on her own. We continue to support Cynthia’s family at this time and they have been kept fully updated of these developments."

Anyone who thinks they may have seen a silver Vauxhall Astra registration number T419 MDA or have been offered a television or red HP laptop should contact police on 101.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
