YOUNG bookworms are being encouraged to take up a great summer reading challenge by Sandwell Libraries. The Mythical Maze Reading Challenge will encourage children to read during the six-week school holidays.
The aim is for them to read six books and collect stickers on a special Mythical Maze poster to earn a medal, a certificate and a goodie bag.
On July 23 Katrice Horsely will be reading mythical stories at Bleakhouse Library at 10.30am, Langley Library, at 2pm and Cradley Heath Library at 3pm.
Borough libraries have a range of World War One themed sessions including making a model plane at Blackheath Library on August 4 at 2pm.
Bleakhouse Library will have an Xbox gaming session on August 18 at 3pm, with more Xbox One and Playstation activities in libraries across the borough.
There will be a Magical Mythical Mystery Tour on August 21, visiting Oldbury at 11am with interactive storytelling and a mini beast session at Brandhall Library on August 22 at 2.30pm.
