THE oldest church in Cradley Heath is holding a cream tea afternoon this weekend to help raise funds to bring it back to its former glory.

Cradley Heath Baptist Church, Corngreaves Road, was built in 1834 and needs specialist renovation work costing £160,000.

English Heritage have deemed the church, also known as Four Ways Baptist Church, a Grade II listed building and has donated nearly £100,000 towards the vital renovation.

On Saturday between 2pm and 4pm the church is inviting people to sample cream teas and raise cash for the renovation.

Deacon Albert Billingham said: "We want as many people as we can to come along and help us raise money for the restoration of our lovely church."
