THE mother of the 24-year-old woman accused of killing Halesowen grandmother Cynthia Beamond burst into tears this morning when her daughter was refused bail.

Chantelle Moran-Stokes has been jointly charged with her former partner Leo Barnes of the murder of 80-year-old Cynthia Beamond.

She made a full application for bail when she appeared before Judge John Warner when she appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court.

But the judge rejected her bail bid although he did tell her she could make another application in four weeks time when a clearer picture would have emerged regarding the police investigation into the killing.

Mr Tarlowchan Dubb representing Moran-Stokes of Runcorn Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham told the court there were grounds for bail despite the seriousness of the charge.

But Mr Robert Price for the prosecution objected to the application and Moran-Stokes was further remanded in custody.

Barnes 32, of the same Balsall Heath address, is accused of a second murder at an address in Belsize Park, London and he is also currently being held in custody.

Mrs Beamond was found dead in the garage of her home in Juliet Road, Halesowen two days after she had been reported missing to police.

A post mortem later concluded the pensioner, who had two daughters and grandchildren, died from serious head wounds.
